The 1000S was MZ's flagship, a sport-tourer powered by its first in-house four-stroke, a 996 cc parallel twin with fuel injection and 117 hp. It sat in a bridge frame with upside-down forks and four-piston front brakes. Wikipedia describes it as the most powerful inline-twin engine on sale at the time.
